NEWS RELEASE ESIGN CHOSEN TO PROVIDE NEW MARQUEE AT SMITH-WILLS STADIUM eSign, Inc, Huntsville, Texas, announced that it will provide a new state of the art electronic marquee, including an eSystem Wireless LED Message Center, at Smith-Wills Stadium, Jackson, Mississippi. Smith Wills Stadium is home to the Jackson Senators, 2003 Defending Champions of the Central Professional Baseball League The marquee measures approximately 12’ high by 12’ wide, stands 22’ tall and incorporates an integrated system of four (4) internally illuminated custom graphics panels together with eSign’s wireless programmable light emitting diode (LED) technology message center.ÂThe display will utilize a panel of 20,480 LED’s and is capable of displaying multiple sizes and styles of computer generated text, graphics and animations. The contract also includes a control system consisting of eSign Messaging Software and wireless technology. The control system transmits messages to the LED message center from computer without running signal cables. The contract calls for complete installation, on-site training and future technical and operations support. “We’re please to have the opportunity to provide this new marquee system,” said eSign, Inc. Mississippi District Manager, David Yowell. “Jackson baseball fans will enjoy the features of the new marquee as it keeps them informed of all the venues hosted at the stadium. We’ll have the marquee installed before the 25th Annual Entergy Mayor’s Trophy baseball game between The University of Mississippi and Mississippi State University on April 13, 2004,” said Yowell. Smith-Wills Stadium opened in 1975 as the home of a New York Mets farm club, the Jackson Mets of the Texas League. The team became an Astros affiliate known as the Jackson Generals, and was purchased by major league strikeout king Nolan Ryan in 1999 and moved to Round Rock, Texas. The stadium then became home to the Jackson Diamondkats of the Texas Louisiana League (now the Central Baseball league) in 2000, and the Jackson Senators in 2002. The Central Baseball League founded in 1994, is an independent league of eight professional baseball teams located throughout four southern states. The league is preparing for its eleventh season this summer with teams located in Amarillo, Coastal Bend (Robstown), Edinburg, Ft. Worth and San Angelo, Texas; Shreveport, Louisiana; Pensacola, Florida; and Jackson, Mississippi. The CBL will play a 96-game schedule between May and August 2004.
